Alan A. Schachter, CPA, ABV, CFF, CVA, CFE, DABFA, is a partner in the Valuation & Forensic Services Group, providing valuation services, intellectual property, forensic and forensic services to clients in a number of industries. Mr. Schachter has provided expert testimony in disputes ranging from bankruptcies, to divorce settlements, to damage claims stemming from contract breaches, copyright infringement, healthcare, white collar criminal defense, and more.
Formerly a managing director at Willamette Management Associates, Mr. Schachter brings more than 40 years of accounting and consulting experience to his engagements. He has been a certified fraud examiner since 1993, and a certified valuation analyst since 1997. He is also accredited in valuation services and certified in financial forensics, both through the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
He has presented and written extensively on many areas of forensic accounting, forensic services and valuation services.
He has also successfully served as a receiver for two troubled healthcare facilities in New York State and served as a special consultant to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for enforcement matters.
Mr. Schachter works out of the firm's Connecticut and New York offices. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and is a CPA in both New York and Connecticut and previously served as the chairman of the forensic services committee for the New York State Society of CPAs.
Mr. Schachter has a bachelor's degree in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from Pace University and an Advanced Certificate of Taxation from Pace University.
