AEU Holdings LLC Employee Benefit Plan, a Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangement (MEWA), has had its fiduciaries, Black Wolf and AEU, removed and barred by the Department of Labor. After numerous complaints on behalf of the plan’s participants, the DOL found the MEWA to have over $26 million in unpaid claims for medical services, with the MEWA’s fund having been transferred to offshore accounts. The MEWA covered 14,000 participants and beneficiaries of more than 560 employers in 36 states.
