Winners Announced for the 10th Annual International M&A Awards

Citrin Cooperman to be honored for Regional Deal of the Year

New York, May 9, 2018 – The winners in various categories for top M&A deals, firms, and professionals were just announced by The M&A Advisor. Citrin Cooperman was listed as a winner among the deal participants for “Asia Deal of the Year,” within the Regional Deal of the Year category, in relation to the acquisition of J-STAR Research Inc. by Porton USA, LLC.

The shareholders of J-STAR Research, Inc. (“J-STAR”) hired Citrin Cooperman to provide sell-side due diligence assistance in connection with J-STAR’s sale to Porton Fine Chemicals, Ltd (“Porton”), a publicly traded Chinese Company (SZ: 300363), and a leading developer and manufacturer of small molecule intermediates and APIs.

Citrin Cooperman prepared an in-depth Vendor Due Diligence report (“VDD”) which provided a comprehensive overview of J-STAR, and its working capital requirements.  After completion of the VDD report, the shareholders’ M&A Advisor, Wombat Capital Markets, presented our analysis to multiple buyers in an auction process, where they struck a successful deal with Porton USA, LLC (“PTC”) for the acquisition of J-STAR.  PTC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Porton Fine Chemicals, Ltd.

As deal participants, both Citrin Cooperman and Wombat Capital will be among the deal honorees to receive an award at a Black-Tie Gala on Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Princeton Club in midtown Manhattan.

“We are very proud to have been a part of the success of this deal, which closed with an EBITDA multiple at the top of its industry for similar transactions," said LaQuita Jewett, director and the deal lead for Citrin Cooperman’s Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) practice. “The combined companies have tremendous potential to create significant value in the future.”

The award selection process was executed by an independent judging panel of industry experts who evaluated nominations representing over 250 individual companies from across the world - a wide and varied group with deals valued at $10 million to tens of billions.

The awards will be presented in conjunction with the 2018 Global Corporate Growth Summit where industry leaders and professionals will assemble for interactive discussions on the Technological Revolution, Globalization and Transnational Dealmaking, the TransHuman Code and the Future of M&A.
