Ajay Mishra is a director in the firm’s Valuation and Forensic Services Practice with over 13 years of experience. His expertise focuses on portfolio valuation for clients in the alternative asset management space, as well as transaction-related valuations.

Experience

Ajay specializes in advising a wide range of alternative asset managers including hedge funds, private equity funds, private lenders, real estate investment trusts (REITs), and business development companies (BDCs). He has advised them on valuing their positions in equities and debt securities, such as common stocks, straight and participating preferred equity, carried interests, limited partnership interests, corporate loans, senior secured debt, putable and callable convertible debt, junior/unsecured subordinated debt, mezzanine debt, etc.

Ajay has assisted clients, including a few of the largest alternative asset managers, on over thousands of investments valued between $1 million and $5 billion. His experience includes the valuation of businesses and intangible assets for a diverse range of industries, including financial services, technology, manufacturing, alcohol and beverages, consumer products, retail, regional and multinational banks, specialty retailers, as well as a few other industries.

Ajay’s experience also includes valuation analyses for financial reporting and tax reporting related to acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, impairment testing, employee compensation plans, and tax restructuring purposes. He has extensive experience in the valuation of technology, software trademarks/brands, customer and distribution relationships, loan portfolios, patents, covenants-not-to-compete, developed technology, core deposits, time deposits, in-process research & development, backlog, inventory, and deferred revenue liabilities.

Prior to joining Citrin Cooperman, Ajay was a director at Duff & Phelps’s Portfolio Valuation practice where he was responsible for managing monthly and quarterly valuations of hundreds of portfolio positions for a wide variety of alternative asset management clients. Ajay was also a manager at a Big 4 accounting firm where he was responsible for performing and reviewing valuation analyses for the largest alternative asset investors and managers, including private equity firms, hedge funds, private lenders, limited partners, and insurance companies. He has managed several business valuation and purchase price allocation engagements for financial and tax reporting purposes in both of his previous positions.
