EXPERIENCE

John is a partner and practice leader of Citrin Cooperman's Not-for-Profit Industry Practice. He also directs the firm’s Southeast regional Audit Practice and serves on the board of the firm’s Assurance Services Practice. With more than 25 years of public accounting experience, John specializes in audit and accounting services for not-for-profit, governmental, education, and health care organizations.

Before joining Citrin Cooperman, John served governmental and not-for-profit clients at other public accounting firms, including a Big Four firm. There he completed a three-year national office rotation, supporting engagement teams across the United States and internationally on complex accounting, auditing, and regulatory matters impacting governmental and not-for-profit clients.

John’s audit experience spans the full breadth of the sectors he serves:

• Social service organizations, foundations, and associations
• State and local government agencies
• Colleges and universities
• Community and teaching hospitals, academic medical centers, health care providers, and long-term care facilities
• Other 501(c)(3) organizations

Clients also turn to John for guidance on audits performed under Government Auditing Standards (Yellow Book) and Uniform Guidance (Single Audit), as well as employee benefit plans, tax-exempt bond offerings, and cost report certifications. John is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and events and a regular contributor of thought leadership on issues impacting not-for-profit organizations.
