Jack Pulvirenti is the firm's NY Metro Region Attest Practice Leader, an audit partner, and specialist in the hospitality and real estate industries, with a focus on closely held businesses. He also advises clients in retail, distribution, and professional services. His hospitality and real estate expertise encompasses advising clients on all types of accounting, tax, and business issues including:
- Acquiring, developing, renovating, and selling hotels and restaurants, as well as commercial and residential properties, including:
- Developing models to evaluate the economic and tax effects of potential transactions
- Performing due diligence with respect to assets to be acquired
- Consulting on the determination of Hotel and Restaurant Prorations and other “day of closing” related issues
- Advising on management, franchise, and lease agreements

Providing operational studies and reviews to help uncover overlooked profit centers, identify potential cost reductions, and assist in providing oversight of third party managers

Advising on internal controls to assist in determining areas of risk that require tighter controls and initiating procedures to remediate potential problems

Preparing and evaluating cash flow projections, financial forecasts, and comparative performance analysis

Developing fixed asset capitalization policies to ensure compliance with income tax and accounting requirements

Creating succession plans for the orderly and tax-efficient transition of control and ownership of closely held businesses

Representing privately held businesses in disputes with taxing authorities

Providing traditional GAAP and income tax basis auditing and financial reporting services, as well as preparing special purpose reports relating to mortgage and other financing agreements, operating leases, and regulatory filings
Prior to joining Citrin Cooperman, Jack was an audit partner at Berdon LLP, which joined Citrin Cooperman in 2023.

He has authored an article in Real Estate Weekly on reducing financial risks in an economic downturn, advised Long Island Business News readers on the audit process and building rapport with clients, and was profiled in the New York Real Estate Journal. In addition, Jack is a key contributor to the firm’s hospitality newsletters and has advised on fraud prevention in the hospitality industry on the video series 2MinutesOn. He is also active in a number of internal committees, including education, integrated financial reporting, and family/owner-managed businesses
