Enhancing Financial Efficiency and Reporting for Research Advancements
Client: The Lupus Research Coalition
Client's Goals: Optimize financial operations, improve reporting accuracy, and efficiently manage multiple research programs
Our Team's Role: The client struggled with Vena implementation, so Citrin Cooperman was brought in, to re-implement the solution and maximize ROI. The primary objective was to optimize the Lupus Research Coalition’s financial processes and improve reporting efficiency.
The Lupus Research Coalition, a national not-for-profit in New York City, is dedicated to advancing lupus research for better treatments and a cure. Alongside its affiliate, Lupus Therapeutics, the Lupus Research Coalition oversees a clinical trials network of 57 leading medical centers. As programs expanded, the organization leveraged Vena with two power users and six contributors to improve budgeting and forecasting. Key goals included streamlining financial and board reporting, enhancing data integration, and eliminating manual entry, ensuring accurate, timely reporting to support its mission and transparency with stakeholders.
Challenges
- System inefficiencies: As the organization grows, outdated systems have become slow and inefficient, limiting operational agility.
- Data and reporting challenges: Inaccurate data has affected board reporting, and monthly budget monitoring processes are cumbersome, impacting decision-making timeliness.
- Lack of integration: Multiple data systems without a reliable, unified data source have led to limited flexibility in budgeting and forecasting, complicating financial planning.
Citrin Cooperman's Approach
- Optimized financial operations: Citrin Cooperman re-implemented Vena to streamline the client’s financial processes and maximize ROI.
- Customized redesign: Conducted a comprehensive assessment and redesigned templates, workflows, and automations to meet client objectives.
