Citrin Cooperman announced today that the accounting and consulting firm has launched the Citrin Cooperman Strategic Alliance (‘the Alliance’), a membership based alliance of accounting and consulting firms throughout the U.S. After a successful pilot program throughout 2017, the Alliance has opened its doors to firms nationwide. Joining the Alliance is James P. Hannon, CPA, CGMA, ARM, as the executive director.

“Having founded Citrin Cooperman in 1979, I’m well aware of the many challenges smaller firms face, with major advances in technology, complicated tax legislation, and the need to provide clients with more than standard tax and audit services,” said Joel Cooperman, CEO of Citrin Cooperman. “The Citrin Cooperman Strategic Alliance was developed as a resource for accounting and consulting firms to enhance their business. We’re very pleased to have James Hannon lead the initiative.”

Members of the Alliance will have access to a one-stop-shop for the numerous advisory services that Citrin Cooperman offers its own clients, including cybersecurity, transaction advisory, trust and estate, valuation and forensics, wealth management, state and local tax, and international tax. The member firms will also be able to take advantage of the firm’s internal programs and resources such as Citrin Cooperman University, firm efficiency and practice management advisement, marketing consulting, and various vendor discounts. The Alliance will also offer outsourcing services, both through Citrin Cooperman and its affiliate, Citrin Cooperman India LLP.

Hannon has over 30 years of public accounting experience, including a particular expertise in helping to build and grow accounting and consulting alliances. Hannon was the founder and executive director of the BDO Alliance, where he also served as executive director for the firm’s mergers and acquisitions. Prior to that, Hannon was an SEC audit client service partner, and the national director of quality control at BDO. Most recently, Hannon served as an International Accounting Association Consultant (‘IAAC’) and as counsel to the CEO at Crowe Horwath. Since 1974, Hannon has been an adjunct professor of accounting and finance at Pace University in New York City.

“The Citrin Cooperman Strategic Alliance enables the firm to provide its domestic and international clients and prospects with professional service coverage at locations where we do not otherwise have a presence,” said Hannon. “Correspondingly, the Alliance provides our member firms with, among other things, access to our domestic and international resources thereby enabling them to compete more effectively in their local market area; the ability to both meet and anticipate the professional service needs of their growth oriented clients; and, the ability to attract and retain new clients.”
