Joseph Barreca is a director with more than 18 years of experience supporting the not-for-profit community and serving as a trusted advisor for public charities, operating and non-operating private foundations, business leagues, social welfare organizations, and social and recreational clubs.

Experience

Joe specializes in representing not-for-profit clients when applying for IRS tax exemption and with initial state charity registrations. He routinely and successfully represents not-for-profit clients concerning IRS and state charity filing notices and examinations. Joe also has represented many not-for-profit clients at examinations for state and local sales tax, as well as federal, state, and local payroll tax.

Joe prepares and makes presentations to finance and executive committees of boards of directors to review the organization’s Form 990, Form 990-PF, and Form 990-T. He advises clients on issues regarding unrelated business income and executive compensation.
